Colorado's 28 largest cities, each with populations exceeding 25,000 residents, maintain death index records through their respective county vital records offices. Unlike some other states, Colorado cities do not operate municipal vital records offices. Instead, all official death certificates, burial permits, and related documentation are managed at the county level.
